Blogtober 6th: “October’s Very Own” | I’m a Halloween Child
Hey hey! What’s up??
How are ya? Good I hope.
I’m currently bouncing around because October is my birth month, & as you can tell by the title, I was born on All Hallows’ Eve.
Yessss, I’m a Halloween baby, & honestly I love it.
This wasn’t always the case, though.
Growing up, I lived in a very religious household so, for the longest time, the holiday wasn’t even recognized. It was JUST my birthday to us. & for a while, I was cool with that. But with time, I started noticing the kids around me who had the opportunity to dress up & go trick-or-treating & do all kinds of fun activities. I wanted that, too. It took forever for my parents to loosen up about the holiday. It involved understanding its origins & how it came to be what it is today. But eventually they caved & I was able to do just all of the Halloween things!
So I do. I do EVERYTHING. Costumes. Haunted forests. Parties. Tricks & treats. Just to name a few.
My childhood friends (most of us are still close) & I would always make plans to do something pertaining to the holiday, but things have been a little different since I’ve been away at college. & it definitely won’t be the same now since I’m two states away. 🙁
BUT IT’S OKAY.
I am determined to enjoy my birthday here because life is too short to sulk about what’s not happening. We have to embrace what is & move on. So I’m planning my costume — I say this with no earthly idea what it will be, haha. But I’m brainstorming. No matter what it is, it’s going to be amazing because on that day, there can be nothing less. No, I’m not being arrogant. I’m just saying that, like fall, nothing can ruin it because it simply is what it is.
Alright. I’m gonna go finish up that brainstorming now.
Is your birthday on or near a holiday? How do you celebrate? Let me know in the comments below!
Until tomorrow, dolls.
