Harvest Notes | Birthday Candles & Pumpkin Lights

Hi, hello, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Birthdays are always so magical to wake up to, but when your birthday falls on a holiday, mine being Halloween, the day carries its own kind of spooktacular sparkle.

The air feels different, the light softer, & somehow it all hums with this playful, cozy energy that feels like home.

It’s always so sweet to see the way the world seems to join in on the celebration. Pumpkins glowing on porches, candy bowls waiting by the door, & the scent of something cinnamon-ny drifting through the air. Every year, it’s a reminder that life can still feel whimsical, even in adulthood.

Morning Glow

I LOVE a good slow morning, & there’s literally NO better time to have one than on your birthday. It was just so delicious to bask in gratitude with coffee in hand, soft Halloween music playing, & my journal open beside me. I always take a few moments to write, not so much goals or lists, but more like reflections. Little heart notes to myself about what I’ve learned, what I’m proud of, & what I want to take with me into this next trip around the sun.

Outside, the sky was the perfect picture of a gloomy fall morning, the kind that makes you want to wrap yourself in your warmest blanket & linger in the calm a little longer. & I did just that.

Afternoon Ease

By the time afternoon rolled in, the world felt alive with that familiar Halloween day energy. I slipped into something soft & festive. PJs, of course, because I had no plans to go out. (This was amazing, by the way. We’ll discuss later.) My Nightmare Before Christmas PJ dress was the perfect call for the day.

There was something comforting about celebrating from the warmth of my own space. No rushing, no crowds, no schedules. It was just me, the coziest scene at home, & the freedom to enjoy the day exactly how I wanted.

Here’s what I jammed out to throughout the day.

Evening Celebration – My Way

As the sun started to set, the day slipped into the softest kind of spooky goodness. I showered, did my skin care routine, & slipped into another fun, festive PJ set. This time, it was this super cute Peanuts set from Target, because The Great Pumpkin is just a classic & a MUST WATCH on Halloween night.

After I was all fresh & ready for the night, I wandered into the kitchen to make one of my favorite feel-good meals. You know, the kind that fills the house with warmth before you even sit down to eat. I truly enjoy cooking for myself on my birthday. There was no rush, no expectations, just a slow rhythm that felt right.

Once dinner was ready, I curled up on the couch & turned on Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween, fully committed to soaking in every bit of the nostalgia. It was easy, quiet, & exactly what I needed. Dessert made its entrance shortly after because what even is a birthday without something sweet to celebrate?

Honestly, I had an entire blast. Just me, my food, my favorite movies, & a night filled with gratitude & coziness.

Reflections at 29

I’ll be honest, this has been a bit of a whirlwind. It wasn’t perfect by any means, but I learned how to find & create peaceful moments in spite of everything. I’m walking into this new chapter with a steadier heart, a deeper sense of gratitude, & a quiet confidence that whatever’s meant for me will always make its way.

Every year brings its own mix of sparkle & mess, & I think that’s the beauty of it.

Until Next Halloween

Another Halloween. Another birthday. Another reminder that life is still full of wonder if you let it be.

Here’s to more candlelight, more cozy nights, & more moments that feel just like this. A little messy, a little magical, & completely unforgettable.
