12 Days of Blogmas | Sailing the Caribbean: Things You Need to Know Before Your First Cruise

OH MY GOODNESS, YOU GUYS!

I recently embarked on my first-ever cruise with Carnival & I had a TIME!

It was a 6-day, 5-night adventure with stops in Cozumel & Progresso, plus two days at sea.

If you’re planning a cruise, I’m here to give you a few tips & tricks that you should know to have just the ultimate experience.

First, let me say that I grew up being on boats alllll the time, & I’ve always loved them. But the Carnival Valor was the biggest I’ve been on so far & it was a total dream. I truly didn’t want to leave.

There’s so much to cover, & I know I won’t get to all the things ever (maybe I can make a part 2??), but let’s dive into some important tips that you really don’t want to miss!

Your Ultimate Cruise Guide

♡♡♡

+ Check the Weather Before Setting Sail

Before hitting the high seas, check the weather at your cruise destinations. This ensures you’re well-prepared with the right attire, whether it’s swimwear for a sunny day at sea or layers for cooler evenings.

+ Download the Cruise App Before Boarding

The cruise app is your key to staying informed about ship activities. Download it before you board to access real-time updates on events, food options, & more. It’s like having the entire cruise schedule at your fingertips.

+ Explore Ports & Go on Excursions

While at ports, make the most of your time ashore. Explore the beautiful cities your cruise visits, & consider trying at least one excursion for a bit of adventure. My personal recommendation? I went horseback riding during the stop at Progresso, & it was truly an unforgettable experience. My horse was so sweet.

+ Dine in the Main Dining Room, Especially on Elegant Night

Don’t miss the chance to dine in the main dining room at least once, especially on Elegant Night. The staff really puts on a show! It’s a delightful experience, & dressing up adds an extra layer of fun to the evening.

+ The Spa Deck is Your Friend

Trust me on this. The ship can be chaotic with something happening on every corner all day & all night! One of the highlights of a cruise is the onboard spa, a sanctuary of tranquility amidst the excitement. Treat yourself to a rejuvenating spa day where you can enjoy a range of pampering treatments. From massages to manis & pedis, & even therapeutic treatments, the ship’s spa is designed to cater to your relaxation needs. It’s a perfect way to unwind & recharge, surrounded by the soothing sounds of the ocean.

+ Participate in Onboard Events & Games

While it’s good to take a second to just decompress, don’t miss all the goodness that your ship has to offer. Joining ship events & games is not just about entertainment; it’s an excellent opportunity to meet new people & make your cruise experience even more memorable. Cruise staff organize various activities, so there’s something for everyone.

+ Skip Checking Luggage on Debarkation Day

To streamline your debarkation process, consider not checking your luggage. This can save time & make the process smoother as you disembark. I recommend this for everyone, but ESPECIALLY if you have an early flight back home.

+ Have the Absolute Time of Your Life

Above all, remember to have fun! Cruises offer a myriad of activities & experiences. Whether you’re relaxing by the pool, attending a show, or simply enjoying the sea breeze, embrace every moment.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned traveler or a first-time cruiser, the magic of the open sea has a way of leaving an indelible mark.

Cherish the moments, savor the flavors, & relish in the joy of discovering new horizons. & when you’re back on solid ground, let the spirit of the sea linger in your soul, & may your future cruises be filled with even more enchanting experiences.

I hope this guide helps you if you’re a first time cruiser or gives you a nice refresher if you’re frequently at sea!

Until tomorrow babes, where there will be a huge announcement!
