A Weekend in Miami

When I created my vision board, one of my goals was to travel more.

Well, I’m happy to say that this past weekend was the beginning of many vacays this year.

Sweet, sweet Miami. I’ve always wanted to go. I’ve been to Florida too many times to count, but Miami just was never on the agenda. That changed when my cousin & I were invited on a trip just to get away. Of course, we said yes & immediately started planning.

South Beach was our destination. We rented a condo on Ocean Drive, literally right across the street from the beach. The view was honestly amazing! We were up high enough to see everything that was going on from our window. It was also Pride Weekend, so all kinds of block parties, parades, & festivities were happening day & night — so much fun to watch.

So, let’s get into the deets, shall we?

We arrived Friday morning. After being on the plane for 3 hours, freshening up was in order. Let me clarify, actual clothes were packed, but we ended up wearing nothing but swimsuits the entire time we were there. It was SO hot & with our plans, swimsuits were just more fitting for the situation!

Anyway, it was too early to check in, so we just dropped off our luggage & went to find a restaurant. The final choice wasn’t far from our condo. It was called Voodoo. I ordered steak tacos & a sangria. GUYS. When I say the steak tacos were the best I’ve ever had in my life, I mean it. The steak was seasoned perfectly & was mouth watering. I still can’t get over it. The sangria, on the other hand, could have been better.

After that amazing meal, it was time to explore & find places with happy hours & good music. When the check in time arrived, we went back to our condo to get settled & relax for a little while.

Later that evening, this pool party was happening that couldn’t be passed up. Too many people aren’t the words. But, it was so much fun & there were some really cool peeps around.

The next day, we slept in. The bed was extremely comfy, so I definitely was not complaining. We got prepped for the day & went for brunch at this restaurant called Bacon B*tch. The food was decent, but the best part was everyone calling everyone b*tches, haha!

We ended up going to the beach that day. The ocean water was so pretty, & it was nice & cool. A little time spent on the shore line never hurt anyone. Ice cream & rented bikes were next on the list. It was so funny watching us try to re-train ourselves to ride because it’s been so long. The rest of the day included good food, rooftops, & a night out.

Our last day in Miami, a Pride parade was taking place & it was at least 2 hours long! So we watched while at brunch. It was decided that since it was our last full day there, going out with a bang was necessary. So what did we do? After a long debate, the girls rented a mini Hummer & we rode around the city blasting music, exploring the extended parts of South Beach. It was a blast, but the sun was so draining. After returning the Hummer, it was time to go back to the condo to freshen up.

Dinner that night was at a restaurant called Pink Teacup Villa, & the food was honestly delish. After finishing there, we went & crashed because everyone was just SO exhausted. By the time we woke, it was late so it was time to get ready & take on the night.

At this point, sleep didn’t even happen. After being out so late, we just changed & went straight to the airport to come back home. I can only imagine what our ‘tudes were like. I mean, really. Three ladies who had been out all night without sleep. Yikes!

All in all, if I had to do it again, I would in a heartbeat. It’s definitely a bustling city & you have to prep yourself to keep up, but it’s so worth it. My cousin & I made so many memories together. & I honestly had the best of times. I can’t wait to go back, especially because I’m convinced that South Beach has the best food. BUT, let’s put a pause on that because on my next trip, you’ll find me in New York.

Have you been on trip lately? What was it like? Did you have loads of fun? Give me all the deets!

Until next time, dolls.
