Finding Your Drive

Hi, hello, what’s up?!

It sort of feels like this post is way overdue, but here we are.

So let’s dive right in.

To put it simply, life happens. To all of us. & sometimes, the timing just couldn’t be any worse. No, really. It will be right when you’re finally seeing a breakthrough with that huge project or just when you get into a consistent rhythm that will sky rocket your growth. & when these sporadic events happen, they can have the tendency of throwing you ALL the way off track. So much so that when you come back to pick up where you left off, you feel kind of lost. I so detest that feeling.

But as I say that, I also am in the process of finding my drive again to get things done. A really big tragedy hit my family & none of us were no where near close to being prepared. Not even a little bit.

& I will say that some things are way harder to deal with than others, so here’s your reminder to please be gentle with yourself no matter the situation. This is NOT about moving too quickly & skipping any healing/getting-it-together processes that need to take place.

It’s about when the time is right for you, here’s how to find your drive again.

When laid out in front of you, it’s all really simple. The kicker here is we have to actually take action to place ourselves back on the right track. Endless planning never got anyone anywhere.

K, into the details we go.

How to Find Your Drive

« Refocus & Identify Your Why:

You’ve got to have a vision & a purpose. Without that, what is the point of you even working for whatever it is that you’re after?

Your “why” is sooo important because when you start to get off course, or on those days when you just don’t feel like it, you can think of that & have a reason to get up & do the work.

Remember to make it crystal clear so that there is no room for excuses.

« Personal Development:

This is where mindset comes into play, which I’ve been super into lately. You’ve got to think the right thoughts in order to get the positive outcome you’re seeking. Seriously.

Some don’t realize just how powerful the mind truly is.

Remember “The Strangest Secret“: “You become what you think about.”

My personal development consists of books & podcasts galore because that’s what resonates with me the most.

I’ll share some of my favs that I’m into right now:

« Podcasts:

You’re Welcome with Hilary Rushford

Real AF by Andy Frisella

« Books:

Switch on Your Brain by Dr. Caroline Leaf

The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg

The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy

There are so many more, but these are great starters.

« Make a List:

& before you say anything, yes, I know that we can just have it all in our mind. But there’s something about getting it out of your head & onto paper.

Plus things slip our minds all of the time. Once it’s on paper, it’s there for good!

Don’t be afraid to get super specific here. The more specific the better, because then you can see exactly what you’re going after. No guess work necessary.

« Change Your How:

Okay, here’s where it gets interesting. If you’re trying to find your drive, most likely doing things the way you were before is no longer working. So that means it’s time to switch it up.

Change your work location. Work at your table instead of your bed (hello quarantine life).

Instead of trying to multitask, time block your schedule & focus on one thing at a time for a certain amount of time, then move to the next task.

Prioritize so that you don’t have 10 million to-do’s.

You get where I’m going with this, right? Changing the way you do things can definitely kick you into gear & help you find a rhythm.

« Calendar All the Things:

This goes without saying, but put your tasks on your calendar with their allotted times so that you start your day knowing exactly what needs to be done & at what hour.

« & ACTION!

I will say it again. Endless planning never got anyone anywhere. Do yourself a favor & do all the things once you set your plan. Don’t allow these steps to just live in your brain. Do. Something. Take. Action.

There you have it. You’re now on your way to finding your drive that you’re looking for. Really, it’s all just about building a routine from habits.

& remember, once you get it, keep evolving. Your methods need to grow with you. 🙂

Let me know below how this works for you or if you have any other tips & tricks.

Later, babes.
