12 Days of Blogmas | Let’s Make Lasagna Skillet
Today, Katie is back on the blog giving us a very yummy recipe.
One of her other posts is here. She’s truly amazing & gives us just all the right tips.
Anyway, it’s time to dive in.
Let’s welcome Katie back to give us deets on lasagna skillet.
There’s nothing better I can think of coming home to after a long, cold day than a pot of pasta.
Seriously.
I’ve always loved eating pasta growing up; my mom’s Sunday sauce was the best part of the week. If we were lucky enough, she’d put together a lasagna for us. But honestly, I live alone now & I don’t have the time, let alone the mouths to feed, to make lasagna more than once a year (if I’m lucky). Thankfully, there’s a much easier way to do it.
Let’s get into it.
What You Need:
- 1/2 lb lean ground beef
- 1 box of pasta noodles (any will work, but I recommend bowties)
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup whole milk ricotta cheese
- Red pepper flakes to taste
- Italian seasoning to taste
- 1 tsp of olive oil
- 1 jar of marinara sauce (splurge on Rao’s, it’s worth it!)
What You’ll Do:
- Boil a pot of salted water.
- In another pot, heat olive oil over medium high heat.
- Add your ground beef to the pot with olive oil. Gently break up the meat & cook through until browned (about 8-10 minutes).
- Once the water is boiling, pour in your box of pasta & cook according to the directions on the box.
- Drain the grease from the cooked meat. Once drained, pour in the jar of marinara sauce. Season to taste with italian seasoning & red pepper flakes.
- When your pasta is cooked through, drain the pasta from the water & add it into the meat sauce. Stir gently. Lower the heat to low.
- Add in the mozzarella, ricotta, & parmesan cheese. Gently fold in the cheese until it has just started to melt.
- Serve hot!
This recipe serves four people, but can be halved to serve two. I prefer to cook more in advance, because you can always freeze & save the leftovers for later!
This is a dish that can be served with a side of your favorite vegetables. You can also add spinach, carrots, or onions into the sauce for an extra boost of nutrition! Just cook them when you’re browning your beef so that everything cooks evenly.
Trust me, this is a MUST try!
You will not be disappointed.
