+ Getting There

Before we dive into the sights & sounds of London, let’s talk logistics. Getting to London is a breeze with its well-connected airports & extensive public transportation system. Whether you’re flying into Heathrow, Gatwick, or Stansted, rest assured that you’ll find convenient transportation options to whisk you away to the heart of the city. I personally arrived in the Heathrow airport, & I was residing in Leicester the majority of the time, so when I went to adventure into London, I used Trainline to take a train. It was my first time being on a train ever, & my goodness, it was such a joy.

+ Accommodations

London offers a plethora of accommodation options to suit every traveler’s needs & preferences. From luxurious hotels overlooking the River Thames to cozy bed-&-breakfasts tucked away in charming neighborhoods, there’s no shortage of places to call home during your stay. Personally, I loved staying in the vibrant heart of the city, right at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London. From there, I had super easy access to top attractions & local gems. I’d also 1,000% recommend downloading the app for Get Your Guide. It had tickets for literally everything that was going on there, & it made planning & choosing what to do a breeze.

+ Must-See Attractions

No visit to London would be complete without ticking off a few iconic landmarks from your bucket list. Take a stroll along the historic streets of Westminster & marvel at the majestic Big Ben & the Houses of Parliament. Don’t forget to snap a selfie with the legendary Tower Bridge as your backdrop & explore the Tower of London’s storied past. & of course, a trip to London wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Buckingham Palace to catch a glimpse of the Changing of the Guard ceremony. I’m thrilled that I got to see ALL of this! With the help of the London Underground, I got around pretty easy.

+ Hidden Gems & Local Experiences

While London’s iconic landmarks are certainly worth a visit, be sure to carve out time to discover its hidden gems & local treasures. Explore the eclectic street art of Shoreditch, indulge in a leisurely afternoon tea at a charming tearoom in Notting Hill, or peruse the stalls of Borough Market for a taste of London’s vibrant food scene. Trust me, the best memories are often made when you stray off the beaten path & immerse yourself in the local culture. I especially enjoyed this super cute little cafe called Tea House Theatre in Vauxhall. It had just the perfect setting &o the food was amazing! & the most immersive experience I had was visiting The London Dungeon. There you can learn the dark history of the city with a VERY interactive cast. 10/10 recommend.

+ Cultural Immersion

One of the things I love most about London is its rich tapestry of cultures & traditions. From world-class museums & galleries to lively theater productions in the West End, there’s no shortage of cultural experiences to enjoy. The British Museum had to be my favorite, because there was SO much to see & learn, & the building itself was mesmerizing. Be sure to catch a show at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre for a taste of Elizabethan-era drama or explore the diverse culinary scene in neighborhoods like Brick Lane & Chinatown.

+ Practical Tips

As with any bustling metropolis, it’s essential to stay safe & informed while exploring London. Keep an eye on your belongings in crowded areas, familiarize yourself with the city’s public transportation system, & don’t hesitate to ask locals for recommendations or directions. & remember, London is a city that thrives rain or shine, so be sure to pack layers & an umbrella to weather any unexpected showers. It definitely was super rainy when I arrived, but it quickly cleared up & it felt like spring.

As our virtual tour of London comes to a close, I hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse into one of the world’s most beloved cities & I truly hope my adventure has inspired you to go & see it for yourself.

Whether you’re dreaming of your next adventure or planning a future trip to London, I encourage you to keep exploring, discovering, & embracing the magic of travel.
